George School Teacher Featured in Woodworking Exhibit

George School woodworking teacher, Carter Sio ’76, was selected to exhibit multiple pieces in the Works in Wood 2020 annual art show. The exhibit brings together work from 40 different contemporary artists, while also celebrating “the woodworking heritage of Bucks County.”

Carter, who has exhibited works in previous iterations of the show, is particularly proud this year of two of the pieces, Tanzania, a tall maple with red milk paint, and Covid, a black maple bowl. On the role of exhibition and museums during the pandemic, Carter said, “Art is keeping us sane.”

This marriage of tradition and innovation which is central to this annual exhibition gain extra resonance this year, as the art will be presented in both live and virtual formats.

The exhibit runs from Saturday, November 21, 2020 through Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2 Stockton Ave, 2nd floor New Hope, PA 18938. Appointments, available in 30-minute slots, are recommended and can be made by calling 215.862.9606. Private viewings are also available and may be booked at www.newhopearts.org.
