George School becomes a founding member of a forty-school consortium later known as A Better Chance (ABC). By 1965 the school commits to the full support of one student in each class, four in all. In the years that follow, especially under Head of School David Bourns, George School increases its outreach, program affiliations, and financial aid budget to make a George School education accessible to more students from underserved communities.
Note: By the 1990s, the George School community was increasingly diverse. Pictured here is the 1993 varsity boys’ cross country team.
