Head of School Search Update

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to share with you that the Search Committee has selected RG175 Search Consultants as a partner in the recruitment and hiring of George School’s tenth head of school. Led by the team of John Green, Catherine Hunter and Marcia Prewitt Spiller, RG175 is committed to understanding the unique mission of George School and identifying outstanding school leaders for our consideration.

In the coming weeks, RG175 will engage members of our community from all constituencies (faculty, staff, alumni, families and students) to gain a comprehensive understanding of our mission and values, our institutional priorities, and our school culture. The team will visit George School on Tuesday, May 23 so that they can experience campus in full swing before the school year ends. This visit will be the first in a series of conversations that the consultants will have with members of our community over the next few months.

Together with the Search Committee, they will develop an opportunity statement and will begin a comprehensive recruitment process through a broad network both within and outside of independent schools. The initial review and screening of candidates is a confidential process requiring considerable discretion. Once finalists are selected, constituents will once again be invited into the process to meet the candidates and provide feedback to the Search Committee.

We hope to invite finalists to campus once the school year is underway and make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees regarding the next Head of School by late fall.

Please refer to the Head of School Search page for comprehensive and current information about the search process. We will continue to keep you informed and aware of opportunities to engage in this work.

In friendship,

John Gibb, Clerk of Search Committee
Rebecca Boucher p’09 ’17, Assistant Clerk of Search Committee

IB Exam Results - Available July 6

IB exams for the May 2023 session have officially concluded! Congratulations to all the IB candidates, both Course and Diploma, who worked very hard to prepare for and test in their subjects!

  • IB results will be released on Thursday, July 6. Students may find their results by going to http://candidates.ibo.org. They will need their personal code and pin, which can currently be found on the exam registration page on the Portal. Students have been instructed to record this information as they may not have access to this page in July. Note that this information is personal to the student and should not be shared with anyone else.

  • Seniors must update College Counseling with their college selection. The IB Coordinator will automatically send IB results for all seniors to their college selection based on the list of college matriculations maintained by College Counseling. If a student does not want these results sent, they must notify the IB Coordinator in writing by no later than Wednesday, May 24. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to check with the College Registrar to ensure that IB results have been received and credited (if applicable).

  • Students must make sure that George Schools has an accurate current address on file to which the IB Diploma may be sent.

Contact IB Coordinator Kim McGlynn at ibcoordinator@georgeschool.org with any questions.

Student Volunteers Needed for CAS!

Dear George School Students,

Do you remember the moment you said “yes” to GS?! For so many, attending the Celebration for Accepted Students (CAS) IS that moment. Every year, the Admission Office works to create an exciting, special, fun-filled experience for our newly accepted students… and we need YOUR help to make the 2023 CAS our best event yet!

This year, there will be two CAS days: March 30 and April 4.

Families will come to campus and attend programming throughout the morning and afternoon to get a sense of what George School is all about. We will need high-energy, dynamic, positive student volunteers to help families navigate campus; answer questions about life at GS; run icebreakers and other games; and so much more. If you are interested in being a Student Volunteer, please fill out this form at your earliest convenience.

Thank you!
The Admission Team

Call for Parent Volunteers!

Your child must also check-in and out with Laurie in the Deans’ Office if they arrive late or leave early for the academic day.

Boarding Student Doctor Appointment Policy. Parents/guardians should let the Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) know 24 hours in advance if their boarding student is leaving campus for a medical appointment with them. Students are required to sign out and back in through the SHWC.
