Michaela Drake ’18

University of Kentucky
Michaela was quite surprised by her teachers—delightfully surprised.

Did anything surprise you when you arrived at George School?

What surprised me the most when I came in as a freshman was how willing the teachers were to help me in classes I struggled in. Teachers at George School always try to be as available as they can be for all of their students. They want their students to succeed, and they try to help students reach their goals in every way they can.

What was memorable about your service trip experience?

On my George School service trip, it was really interesting to see everything I had learned about service and community at work in another community. Meeting the family whose house I was helping to build in Mississippi let me see what all of our work was for.

More about Michaela:

Michaela played a number of different leadership roles on campus—lead tour guide, yearbook editor, and captain of the varsity equestrian team. In addition to her service experience in Mississippi, she volunteered at the school barn.
