Richard T. T. Forman ’53 Publishes New Book

Frequently cited as a trailblazer in the fields of landscape, road, and urban ecology, Richard T.T. Forman ’53 is breaking new ground in the field of town ecology. Towns, Ecology, and the Land (2019) is his latest in a distinguished bibliography that includes a well-known textbook (Land Mosaics: The Ecology of Landscapes and Regions).

Towns, Ecology, and the Land explores towns and villages as “dynamic environmental hotspots,” looking at them from varied human and ecological perspectives. At a critical juncture for the planet, Richard’s focus on international town ecology paves the way for further research.

Richard is a professor at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
