Ben Luber Leads Team to Winning Season

Coach Ben Luber and the 2019-2020 varsity boys' basketball team.

Coach Ben Luber joined the George School community just two months before leading the varsity boys’ basketball team to their first win. Since that time, the team has gone on to have a 10-5 record, including winning the last seven games.

“It’s been a great experience,” Ben told the Intelligencer. “I figured out one thing right away — these kids are hard-working, disciplined, good kids looking for an answer. They’ve showed up and worked on their games every day for two months straight and evolved into roles. That’s why this team has overachieved the way they have.”

The team has been led by point guard Nazim Pierre ’20, who Ben says is one of the most under-recruited guys out there and shooting guard Jack Vreeswyk ’20. On defense, it’s Jordan Miller ’20 and Dwayne Jones ’21 that standout.

The Cougars go on the road to take on Germantown Friends on Friday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m.
