Students Hold Inaugural Art for Relief

Three juniors, Trisha Hibbs ’07, Nora Minno ’07, and Meredith Zoltick ’07, decide to organize Art for Relief, which raises over $5,000 for Habitat for Humanity. The evening begins with an art show and silent auction in the meetinghouse and concludes with an array of humanitarian-themed performances in Walton Center Auditorium.

Working with faculty sponsor Rachel Fumia, the three students seek participation from both the George School and local communities. The art show features mixed-media work produced and donated by George School community members. The silent auction includes work contributed by local professional artists, along with various items donated by Newtown businesses.

Nora characterizes Art for Relief as fun and hopeful. Meredith adds, “The community has definitely come together.”

This innovative program becomes a much-anticipated annual event with the charitable cause changing.
