Parent Visiting Day Planned for October 19

The George School community swells in size on Parents Visiting Day—Saturday, October 19, 2019—when parents descend on campus to learn more about their child’s experience at the school. Always a highlight are classroom visits. Parents start the day attending fifteen-minute classes to hear about each course and meet their child’s teachers. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. This is followed by Head of School Sam Houser’s annual address at 11:00 am in Walton Center auditorium. Informational sessions in the afternoon include several college counseling and service learning seminars.

There is so much planned for Parents Visiting Day that activities actually begin with two Friday events. At 4:00 p.m., Class of 2020 parents may attend College Counseling’s FAFSA Completion Workshop with a financial aid expert, held in the Anderson Library Conference Room. At 5:30, all parents are invited to a buffet dinner at La Stalla Restaurant in Newtown, hosted by the George School Parents Association. The dinner is a great opportunity to get to know other George School parents in an informal setting.

Visiting Day coincides with Fall Break, so that families can spend time at home or explore the area together. Classes resume Tuesday, October 22, at 8:00 a.m.
