Track and Field Provides Endless Possibilities to Succeed

I started running track at George School during my freshman year during winter season. I wasn’t sure what sport to choose so I decided to go with track. As a freshman, I struggled with getting to know my teammates and keeping up with the strenuous workouts. Now as a senior, I feel so much more comfortable with my coaches, teammates, and I have learned so much about the sport.

One of the best parts about track and field is the variety of events to choose from. Although my favorites are the sprint events, I’ve had the opportunity to run hurdle races, high jump, long jump, pole vault, javelin, shot put, and mid-distance events such as the 800-meters. I was even able to partake in a heptathlon my sophomore year. The opportunities are endless in track. No matter what your skill level is, you will find the events that best suit your abilities.

Another great thing about my experience as part of the track team is the friends that I’ve made over the past four years. Watching my fellow seniors grow as athletes and leaders from freshman year to now has been amazing. I’ve also been able to foster great relationships with the coaches. Their devotion to the sport and helping students succeed is what garners the team’s motivation and what leads us to victory. I’m so proud of how much the team has grown as a whole over the years and I am excited to see even more growth and success in the future.
