New Class Schedule Announced for the 2021-2022 School Year

George School is pleased to announce a new student-centered daily schedule beginning August 30, 2021. The new schedule is based on extensive research on what is best for adolescent learning and well-being. It will feature four classes per day for 75-minute periods in an 8-day rotation. In-between classes there will be flexible time to meet varied student needs, time for community interaction, and time to transition between classes.

“As we’ve designed this daily schedule, one of our goals was to prioritize holistic wellness,” said faculty member Sara Shreve-Price. “We’ve worked to minimize the hectic pace that can so often characterize the high school experience. Longer class periods and more breaks will allow students to alternate between the intensity of class work and rejuvenation offered by a long lunch, a walk around campus, or even a game of four square.”

The school day will now begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:25 p.m. Physical education, athletics, and theater will be offered between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m., depending on the day. Each class will meet every other day. Some optional physical education classes will meet from 7:15 to 8:00 a.m.
