American Chemical Society Award Winner Announced
Ziyou (Milano) Hu ’21 is the 2019 recipient of the annual American Chemical Society award at George School. Chemistry teachers designate one AP Chemistry student each year to receive an honorary certificate for excellence in the study of chemistry.
Students Take First and Second Place in Robotics Invitational
More than thirty students gathered at George School for the fourth Annual Robotics Invitational Competition on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Kairo Morton ’20 and Robin Bouchet ’20 took first and second place in the Individual category with scores of 72 and 61, respectively.
Cougars Set Records at State Track and Field Championships
The George School Cougars set new records at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association meet on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Abby Eisold ’20 set a new state record of 14.98 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and Sanaa Hebron ’22 set a state title in the 400-meter race at 56.93 seconds. Several athletes on both the boys’ and the girls’ teams set new personal records.
Lessons from Seventeen Years of Teaching Robotics
In 2002, physics teacher Chris Odom taught George School’s first robotics class with a curriculum of his own invention. In the ensuing seventeen years, Chris authored several robotics textbooks and developed a curriculum taught at George School and around the world.

The George School Community Chorus Performs Te Deum
The George School Community Chorus concert will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the meetinghouse. The chorus will perform several works by the composer Anton Bruckner.
Varsity Softball Finishes the Season 12-4
The varsity girls’ softball season came to an end on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with a 6-5 loss to Friends Select School in the Friends Schools League (FSL) semi-final game. The Cougars finished the year with a 12-4 season record.
George School Presents The Miracle Worker
This year’s spring theater performance is The Miracle Worker, a play by William Gibson based on Helen Keller’s autobiography The Story of My Life.
Varsity Baseball Team Wins Quaker Cup
The varsity boys’ baseball team defeated Abington Friends School 4-2 on Saturday, May 11, 2019, to win the Friends Schools League Quaker Cup.
On behalf of the GS Plant Club, I’d like to let you all know that we will be holding our 3rd annual Spring Plant Sale today during the lunch period (11:35-12:35 p.m.) on Red Square.
We will have over 400 seedlings to sell, including over 120 tomato, 120 basil, and over 80 zinnia seedlings, so don’t be afraid to buy in bulk!
