Eric Curtis, Sixth Head of School
Eric Curtis stood stalwartly against the revolutionary tendencies of adolescents in the late sixties and early seventies. He also had to cope with a resurgent teaching staff wishing to appoint its own leaders. Four major building projects were completed during his tenure.
McFeely Library Opens
The school library gets its own building.
Walton Center Opens
A new auditorium is built to replace the one in Main.
Cougars Take George School
The school’s athletic teams have their own mascot for the first time.
Diversity Becomes a Priority
George School becomes a founding member of a program that offers financial and other support to low-income and minority students.
