The community at George is filled with amazing people who treat one another not only with respect but also with love.
The George School performing arts program allows people from all different parts of the world to express their culture and understanding of theater within our classes and performances.
Being away from home has taught me many things, but being an international student has taught me that everyone is different and not everyone will think like you. George School does an amazing job of making you feel at home.
In Bonaire, it was really amazing to think about how everyone else is living their lives on land, while the fish and the corals are living separately in a different world underwater. The fish and other marine life that amaze us are just normal, daily life for everything that is living subaqueously.
In Costa Rica, I realized that what I had most enjoyed was getting to know members of the local community and seeing plants and wildlife I had never seen before. It hit me that travel isn’t just about relaxing and taking photos, it is about working to understand a world different than our own.
Providing our students with the confidence and skills to approach challenging work without an overwhelming fear of failure, and the mindset to see the failures they will have as opportunities to learn something is far more important and transferable than any set of facts we could teach them.
Tomorrow will be an early morning to see the rare Golden Monkeys followed by a visit to a cultural village for drumming, dancing, and local food. Students are in good spirits, engaged in the work, and learning to work as a group.
Learning about some of the major religious traditions of the world—including their symbols, practices, rituals, and representations of the divine—is a wonderful portal into the discipline of becoming a world citizen.
Politics is indeed personal, and it is my hope that our students’ learning isn’t just relegated to complex terms and theories, but the idea that politics requires their participation and their passion.
Our Fall Open House is scheduled for Sunday, October 24 and I hope you can join me and the rest of our Admission team at 1:30 p.m. EDT. This is the perfect opportunity to take a deep dive into what George School has to offer.
