George School Celebrates 126th Commencement
Camille Drury ’19 recently painted human organs on campus trees for an installation art project entitled Our Organs. Her work illustrates the lungs, uterus, and heart on the trees with acrylic paint to symbolize the connection between human life and the natural world.
The box project has been a staple in Carter Sio’s ’76 Beginning Woodworking and Design course for over thirty years. The cardinal rule? No power tools allowed. Since 1984, students have been learning to construct these boxes using only hand tools.
The George School varsity equestrian team powered through the snow to take second place in the Jentri Stables Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Horse Show. Layla Afzal ’21 and Eva Coleman ’19 qualified as individuals in the Novice Fences class for IEA Regionals in March.
Students, faculty, and staff, as well as alumni and friends are invited to a special Holiday Meeting for Worship on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the George School Meetinghouse.
The varsity boys’ basketball team notched three early season wins, defeating Delaware Valley Friends School 65-23, Princeton Day School 69-59, and Cross Christian Academy 65-45.
Donors who want to get the most bang for their buck with their year-end donations can find extra benefits by looking at their portfolio. Donating appreciated securities, which have been owned for more than one year, can double the benefits of giving.
George School alumni had three opportunities to gather and network this fall. The events were held in New York and in Newtown.
Half of the riders from the George School varsity equestrian team competed at the Timber Edge Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Horse Show. The team took third overall and added four points to their team standings in the competition on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
The George School varsity girls’ basketball team opened its season with a win in the Cougar Classic Invitational. The invitational pitted George School against Academy of the New Church in the first game, which they won 40 to 13. In the second game, George School faced Cristo Rey High School and won 44 to 32.
